What Wellness Really Means
"Health" is such a loose term. We have been brainwashed into believing that we are healthy. Healthy people do not take drugs nor need vitamin pills or supplements. Health means waking up in the morning and immediately feeling refreshed and energized. No "sleep" in the eyes (that crusted stuff will not appear anymore when you eliminate all the animal products, refined and processed "food"). I never used to be a "morning" person until I radically changed my diet to a proper raw vegan one. Sick people are tired when they wake up in the morning.
Healthy people do not get out of breath after only a few minutes up and down the stairs. Healthy people do not ever get headaches, stomach aches, sore throats, congestion, sleeplessness, rashes, offensive body odor, fatigue, and the list goes on and on.
Sick people take a long time to heal, You can test this and everything else I suggest. After being raw for a few years, that is after doing the "demolition" before the renovation, called "detox" by most; you will experience cuts healing in half to one third the time as compared to before. That is if you are like myself, my raw team and my clients and students who are at least 99% raw for a long enough time.
You can always tell if a person is not doing well if their kitchen cupboards are full of vitamin supplements, fiber powders and wafers, and whatever "green powders" are popular this month. Their bathroom medicine cabinet is full of medicines and creams and potions as well. This is a dead giveaway that they are seeking BUT NOT FEELING health!
Think about it. If a person made a million dollars a year, and you asked them if they would be interested in going to a seminar called "How to make 25 grand a year selling stuffed animals at flea markets on weekends" what do you think they would reply? Would they really waste their weekends trying to make a few bucks when they are already making millions? They would much rather enjoy their weekends doing leisure activities.
Now you know how I feel. For most of my life I was one of those people scrounging for health anywhere I could seem to "find" it. I took vitamins. I took green powders, I took so-called "super foods". At the time I may even have believed that some things "worked" . But after decades of strict experimentation that, after reading The China Study by T. Colin Campbell when it first was published in 2005, I knew that I was not only on the right track but was way ahead of the game. I had heard of the China Project long before he and his son wrote the wonderful book based on the largest human epidemiology study ever conducted, but I was doubly impressed since I had been experiencing exactly what was what the NY Times refers to as "The Grand Prix of Epidemiology" for over 30 years on my own. For Campbell, along with Cornell, Harvard, Yale, the ACS, the NCI, and the Chinese, European and American governments all to confirm all the thousands of studies and data that brave Campbell had uncovered in 48 hears of extensive research - was just a great moment for me.
You see.... health is not just 8,000 studies confirmed and 50 years of extensive triple - reviewed and confirmed studies by the most prestigious halls of science on the planet. Health is something so great that you can not help but feel it! Most people, for example, think it is normal to get an occasional headache or whatever. They think that gaining a little excess fat each year is okay. Men are told that at age 70 they should expect to have trouble urinating. That their prostate grows as a sign of age. It has nothing to do with age per se. It is one of the things that happens when you put animal protein through your system for years. Women get breast cancer as a result of the same mechanisms. This is just one tiny example of what happens just when you eat more than 5% animal protein. Most Americans eat 25% animal protein daily as percentage of calories.
Refined and cooked foods cause all sorts of "gumming up of your works" both on a surface as well as cellular level. I do not have time here to explain it all of course, but in a nutshell, the "pings and knocks" that a car has when the wrong fuel is used are like the cold and flu symptoms that people suffer on a regular basis. 99% is not even colds or flu but wrong eating reactions.
The way most people eat is so foreign to what the human body was designed to consume that few know what it even feels like to be in normal health!
Like fish in water, they do not even realize that their everyday lives are not normal, and that they are being led like cattle to slaughter as they will develop chronic serious "diseases" that will severely limit their enjoyment of what is truly a normal life.
Only when you experiment with a goal of 100% raw for at least one week (one month would show you much more) can you even get a taste (no pun intended) of how bad your perception of health was. You have no idea. It is like the woman who married a man who- one day - came home sober. She had no idea that he was an alcoholic all the time that they were married. Most people do not even know that they are "walking wounded" They take a shot of wheat-grass every day. They take their vitamin pills and supplements every day. They take Echinacea when they get a cold. BUT HEALTHY PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE TO DO ANY OF THIS SINCE THEY NEVER FEEL SICK. And when they do feel a little off (Even the healthy organism may have slight ups and downs, especially if they indulge in a bit more food a few times per year) - they get over it in a fraction of the time compared to those who eat a cooked "healthy diet" that is only half raw or three quarters raw.
As with most things, the proof is in the pudding. Experience is the best teacher. In this mega information age in which we live, it still holds true that you have to go through the process in order to get the genuine results. As T. Colin Campbell said many times, all the research he discovered would be meaningless if he did not eat the proper food every day.
Here are some more great quotes off the top of my head (Yes I am sitting here typing without an outline or research material- I simply do not have the time as it is Sunday and I have much to do! But here are a few that come to mind:
"Until man can duplicate a blade of grass nature laughs at his so-called scientific knowledge" - Einstein
"Medicine is designed to amuse the patient while nature cures the dis-ease" - Voltaire
"I have endeavored to show that not only is medicine of no real help but it is detrimental to all mankind" - Ghandi
"The truth is the one thing that nobody will believe" - George Bernard Shaw
"The truth is so precious it travels surrounded by a bodyguard of lies" - Churchill
